About the Artist:

Hiromi Uehara is a jazz composer and pianist from Hamamatsu, Japan. Hiromi began studying piano at the early age of 6 and by age 14 was asked to play with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Three years later, she coincidentally met Chick Corea in Tokyo and was asked to perform with him the very next day. Hiromi enrolled at Berklee College of Music, here in Boston, after spending time writing jingles for Japanese companies like Nissan. At Berklee, she studied under Ahmad Jamal and had been signed to Telarc, a jazz record label, before graduating. She debuted in 2003 and has toured internationally. She is known for her excellent technique and thrilling performances. Her compositions are influenced by many different genres including progressive rock, classical, jazz, and fusion.
